Pink Floyd The Wall, Original Animation Cel, Signed Roger Waters & Gerald Scarfe
Not my usual Asian art.... but after about 35 years of collecting rock records and other memorabilia, I've decided it's time to sell off some of my rarities.
A fantastic collectable item for any Pink Floyd fan...
This is an original animation cel, actually used in the Pink Floyd film, The Wall. It has been professionally framed.
Title: A Hammer Head.
Cel: Gouache on multi-cel set up, 11.5inches x 16.5inches. A multi-cel set up is defined as more than one celluloid placed together; at least one of which being full celluloid.
Usage: It was used in the Empty Spaces sequence of Pink Floyd The Wall.
Supplied with the original full colour auction catalogue, with accompanying inserts.
Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity, personally signed by both Rogers Waters and Gerald Scarfe.
Supplied with original purchase invoice and copy invoice from Christies.
On Friday 21 September, 1990, an auction was held at Christies in London, where a select choice of animation cels from The Wall was auctioned. I was there that day, and purchased this cel. It was a packed auction room, my first ever auction, and I was delighted to be able to buy this item which was right at the top of my budget. Prior to that, the Europeans in attendance all seemed to outbid me with ease!
I desperately wanted a Hammer image, as to me, it was the iconic image of The Wall.
Obviously, a completely unique item!
Secondly, original animation cels from The Wall are very rarely ever available for sale.
Dimensions in cm (approx):
Visible animation cel: 40cm x 28cm
Outer frame: 64cm x 52cm
As the cel is behind glass it is very difficult to photograph without reflections obscuring it! The marks in the photos on the top left are just a reflection of a ceiling light I couldn't avoid!
