Thai Ayuthaya period seated bronze/silver alloy Buddha, c. 17/18th Century.
This is a very scarce Thai Buddha from the Nakhon Si Thammarat region of Southern Thailand from the Ayuthaya period which ended in 1767.
The Buddha has been produced in a simpler and less refined style than is found in the north of Thailand.
Seated with the right hand lowered in bhumisparsimudra and the left resting in his lap.
The face serene and meditative.
Old damages to lower rear of base and small circular hole near Buddha's foot (see photos).
