Very attractive folio of Paper-Cuts of Chien An, Hopei Province.

Inside the folio is an 8 page booklet in Chinese, English, French and German, giving an introduction to the paper-cuts. There is also a 2 page leaflet detailing the paper-cuts of Chien An.
Enclosed are 17 individually hand cut papercut pictures. Delicate cut by hand and mounted onto ivory card backing. There are 17 loose leaves of single sided images in total. All coloured by hand. Images depicted are scenes of nature including birds, fish and insects.
The outer folio is very good - would be near fine except for a brown mark on the front cover (see photographs). The printed booklets are also very good, and the mounted paper-cuts are near fine.
A scarce and unusual set - the first we have seen of this type.
