Michael McVeigh, Eemis Stane, Signed Limited Print 20/22.
MICHAEL MCVEIGH (SCOTTISH b 1957 - ),
EEMIS STAANE (sic - probably meant to say STANE). In Scots, the 'Eemis Stane' means 'unsteady stone'.
The Eemis Stane is a poem by Hugh MacDiarmid (1892-1978). The words of this are shown in the book in the image. These words have also been set to music. The figure in the image is clearly a depiction of Hugh MacDiarmid and the tattoo on his arm mentions the love between him and his second wife, Valda. He was also a fervent supporter of Scottish nationalism, which is also reflected in the image.
