This is a very unusual item for us, but we know it may be of interest to many of our clients around the globe...
SORRY RECENTLY SOLD
This is a beautiful fold out map of Gleneagles Golf Course, one of the finest golf courses in the world.
In near fine condition, it is bound as a 12 printed page (plus small additional page) folding map, in black cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to the front. Cover has minimal shelf wear for a map of this age.
It is large format, the outer covers being 430mm high x 317m wide.
Each page is approximately 425mm high x 305mm wide, making a total fully expanded map of some 1830mm wide x 850mm high (plus the small added page adding another 230mm x 150mm.
This map of the Golf Course is entirely linen backed with only mild age discoloration. There are no tears. It was mounted and bound (as per label) by Cook, Hammond and Kell Ltd, Tothill Street, Westminster, London.
We do not believe this map was ever intended for sale - it is marked with the London Midland and Scottish Railway's Estate Department, Euston, London, stamp and hand signed 31st December 1926. The Railway company were the owners of Gleneagles.
This is only 2 years after Gleneagles Hotel's Grand Opening Gala, making it a very early map of the course.
As well as detailing the King's and Queen's courses, the map is a clearly defined record of the ownership land boundaries.
An extremely scarce and collectible item.
