Antique Thai Suphannahong Royal Barge Table Centrepiece of large size.
Beautiful golden wooden table centrepiece in the shape of a Thai Royal Barge - fronted with the Hong bird at its bow. The Royal Barge Suphannahong loosely translates as 'Golden Swan' or 'Phoenix'. This barge was given world maritime heritage status in 1992 and is a stunning sight which can be seen on Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. It is manned by a crew of 66, including 50 oarsmen.
This is a very unusual item - it is supported by a custom made modern stand in wood and metal, and the barge has been constructed to allow for flowers to be placed along its length inside a lattice of wooden compartments, with a raised pedestal in the centre.
In very good condition overall. Some minor damages and losses - see photos, but a really interesting and attractive piece.
Dimensions - Mounted Size approx 123cm long x 65cm high x 17cm wide.
