Published in Mockba (Moscow) in 1958. Ink stamp to 1961 on rear - presumably a retail sales stamp.

A very good copy demonstrating the art of Soviet Palekh, named after the locality, where they produced beautiful miniature paintings in bright tempera colours on a black background.

The outer clamshell case features red cloth (leatherette) over strong board, and houses a 56pp brochure inside with 39 plates mounted on stiff board. In very good condition throughout, with just a few minor marks. The printed brochure has soft covers and is in Russian, French and English, providing a detailed introduction to the art-form and a list of the Plates.
